About Bowen's Corner

Don Bowen purchased Bowen’s Corner on January 15, of 1998, which happened to land on his 38th birthday. While his goal was to keep with the theme of a "Northern Michigan Tradition", Bowen also wanted to update the surroundings with improvements to the building, and extensive landscaping to make the entry into Indian River a welcomed, and pleasant experience. Immediately following, Bowen started making major changes beginning with tearing out the old, and bringing in the new. Within 12 months, yes only one year from its purchase, the building project was completed, and filled with six businesses. Located here is Bowen Realty, a property management company specializing in year round and commercial rental properties. We now have some new tenants. Burt Lake Marina has opened a "Ship Store" here. We now have a new bakery opening in the Bowen Plaza on main st. For more information please go to www.bread-ology.com There you will find information on the "new age healthy alternative" to a bakery. All natural ingredients, all baked, NO FRYING! Breadology has ingredients shipped from as far away as Italy. Their ingredients are not pre-made and baked. Everything is made from scratch.

From July 7-October 27, Bowen's Corner also has a "Farmer's Market" bringing fresh fruits and vegetables as well as other products that are produced organically straight from the farm.

On February 11, 1999, the Indian River Chamber of Commerce at their Annual Awards dinner recognized Bowen’s efforts, and awarded him with the "Indian River Chamber of Commerce Beautification Award."

"I am very proud to be a recipient of this award, and to be a member of the Indian River community,” said Bowen. The building, which was an old motel back in the early 1950's, is located at the "busiest intersection in Cheboygan County”, and is now the most recognized professional building in all of Indian River.
